The Lexx is the most powerful weapon of destruction in the two universes, which are the Light Universe and the Dark Zone. The Lexx was grown on The Cluster, which was owned by the evil Divine Shadow. Stanley Tweedle, a class four security guard on The Cluster, got the biokey for the Lexx, a living key passed from person to person, and stole the Lexx and took it through the fractal core from the Light Zone to the Dark Zone, an area of chaos and destruction.

With him he took Zev Bellringer of B3K, a horrible fat woman transformed by a machine into a loveslave, a servant for sexual pleasure, but while she was being transformed, a Cluster Lizard attacked the Robotic Cyborg controlling the loveslave transformation machine and the Cyborg's head fell alongside Zev. When the process was complete, Zev was formed part Cluster Lizard and the Robot Head known as 790 was infatuated with Zev and would do anything for her, a servant of devotion.

Also on the Lexx when it escaped was Kai, the last of the Brunnen G. The Brunnen G were a valiant race, opposed to His Shadow and the Divine Order. They and their planet were destroyed by His Shadow two thousand years ago but His Shadow kept Kai alive as an assassin with proto-blood. When Kai escaped on the Lexx, he took with him his memory, which he received off a divine predecessor. Now Kai has to be kept in cryostasis onboard the Lexx. A time prophet had predicted that His Shadow would be destroyed by the last of the Brunnen G, so His Shadow is determined to destroy Kai to end the prophecy. His Shadow's body was killed but his brain lived on. His Shadow had everyone on The Cluster killed in 'The Cleansing' and joined with all the dead flesh to become a large entity known as the GigaShadow. The GigaShadow was destroyed when it was chasing the Lexx through the fractal core, back into the DarkZone.

So the Lexx escaped into the DarkZone with His Shadow destroyed, but many more dangers lurked there, so they were by no means safe. After a few hundred adventures, the Lexx had to return to the LightZone in order to find Kai some more proto-blood with the help of Mantrid. Zev was killed and reduced to a bowl of goo, saving Kai's 'life', but brought back to life by a plant lifeform called Lyekka. Kai was being controlled by His Shadow's essence which made him want to seek out Mantrid and the last remaining insect Larva off the GigaShadow. Mantrid was combined with the insect essence, and is chasing the Lexx all over the galaxy, although he sent them a message saying that he would save them till last, since they were the ones who created him. Mantrid caught up with the crew of the Lexx, or should I say they went after him, and with the help of their 790 drones, won their first battle against Mantrid. Lyekka was killed while trying to stop Mantrid, but she did not succeed. Mantrid ordered all his drones to come to the part of the galaxy where he was, for one last battle with the Lexx and the newly built 790 drones. The massive gravitational shift caused the universe to collapse, leaving the crew of the Lexx in the only remaining universe, the DarkZone. And now they are looking for a new home.
